Chicago Athletic Association
A stunning example of Venetian Gothic architecture, the Chicago Athletic Association building makes an iconic statement along the landmarked Michigan Avenue streetwall. Designed by Henry Ives Cobb circa 1893 as a private club for Chicago's elite, the building was vacant and faced demolition. The adaptive reuse transformed the historic building into a boutique hotel with 241 guestrooms and over 225, 000 square feet of dynamically programmed space and a rooftop bar. Extraorindary care was taken to retain elements of the building's late nineteenth century architectural details intact.
